Sylvester Aumen, 76, last of a family of 11 children, died suddenly Sunday morning about 10 o'clock at his home in Littlestown from a heart attack.
Mr. Aumen rose at his usual time Sunday morning and ate breakfast. A short time later he complained of feeling ill. A physician was called but before he arrived, Mr. Aumen collapsed in a chair and died almost instantly.
The deceased was born and lived all his life in the Littlestown section of Adams county. He was the last surviving child of Barnabas and Margaret Aumen who came to this country from Germany in 1844. He was twice married. His first wife was the late Jennie Pitzer. His second wife, the former, Emma Clingen, survives with a number of step-children. There also are a number of nieces and nephews surviving.
Mr. Aumen formerly was employed at the Keystone cabinet company. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic church at Littlestown and of the Catholic Beneficial society there.
Interment in the Catholic Cemetery at Littlestown.

Sources: Mrs Jennie Aumen, wife of Sylvester Aumen, of Littlestown, died Wednesday morning from the effects of paralysis, aged 66 years, 4 months and 27 days. About ten years ago Mrs. Aumen was first stricken with apoplexy. For the past three years she had been practically helpless.
She leaves her husband and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Wm. Bixler, of Mt. Rock; Mrs. Samuel Flickinger, of Taneytown; Mrs. Wm. Bowers, of Harney; Mrs. John Wolf, of Gettysburg, Mrs. Fannie Gitt, of York, David Pitzer, of Bonneauville; Edward Pitzer, of Hanover; Harvey, Jacob and John Pitzer, of Dixon, Ill.
Interment in the Catholic Cemetery at Littlestown.

Sources:  Age 54, Detroit, Mich., died at noon Sunday, July 30, 1961 at the Clearfield Motel, on Route 140, near Westminster. He had checked in at the motel Saturday, July 29 at 9 PM and apparently died of a heart attack. Deputy medical examiner, Dr. James T. Marsh, ordered the body removed to the Baltimore City Morgue for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
Former resident of Westminster, he had been living at Detroit for about 30 years. He was a son of the late Abraham L. and Emma Storm Clingan and was employed at Kelsey Hayes Wheel Company, Detroit.

Surviving are his wife, Anna, and two step-sons of Detroit; one sister and six brothers: Mrs. Gregory E. Lawrence, David N. and Paul O. of Westminster, Joseph W., Hanover, Pa., John A., Jefferson City, Mo., C. Louis and Franklin V., Phoenix, Ariz.

Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield Township, Mich.

 DEATHS Paul Clingan Paul Clingan, 62, died unexpectedly early Monday morning to an apparent heart attack at his home in Westminster. He was born in Taneytown. He operated OS and Ginnys' Inn for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Westminster Optimist Club, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1381, Fraternal Order of Eagles 2226, Littlestown, and social member of the V. F. W. Molleville Farm Post 467 and the American Legion, Carroll Post 31. He was the son of the late Abraham L. and Emma Storms Clingan. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Eckenrode Clingan; two daughters and one son, Mrs. Clare Anne Kehoe, Westminster, Mrs. Carol V. Rohrbaugh, Hanover, and William Bennett Clingan, Westminster; one sister and three brothers, Mrs. Nellie Lawrence and Joseph Clingan, Hanover, John Clingan, Jefferson, Mo. and Frank Clingan, Phoenix, Arizona; also six grand-daughters, Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. John's Catholic Church Thursday at 10 a.m. Rev. Joseph Antoszews will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Thomas D. Fletcher Funeral Home, Westminster, tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock.
